LA Zoo Lights – Spend an evening enjoying a one-of-a-kind lighting experience at the LA Zoo. Take a stroll and enjoy the enchanted, holiday wonderland complete with real reindeer and Santa Claus, all under the star-filled sky.

Ice Skating at the Beach – Who said you couldn’t have the best of both worlds? Stop by ICE in Santa Monica and enjoy a festive outing of ice-skating around an 8,000 square-foot rink just minutes from the beach. Here are a few of our favorites:

The Stough Canyon Nature Center, located in the Verdugo Mountains, is home to an exhibit hall, small library and outdoor amphitheater.  Start your hike from the center and experience all that the local area has to offer. Complimentary maps and guides to the local habitats and terrains are provided for you to reference as well. Be sure to visit their site to see a schedule of weekly group hikes and activities offered.

Or, enjoy a day of golf and experience the picturesque view of DeBelle Golf Club. Located alongside Wildwood Canyon, this 18-hole course is perfect for all skillsets. The clubhouse offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, for those who just want to relax. The Club does occasionally offer Groupon deals so be sure to check before your visit.

Another option is to take the kids for a day of fun, get out some pent up energy or relive your 6th grade little league glory days at Batcade. This batting cage facility is open all year round and is perfect for groups or for individuals.  Along with practicing your swing, visitors can enjoy the pool table and arcade.

Or, if you’re looking to get out of the heat but still do something active, stop by Pickwick Ice Center. This local ice-skating rink offers classes and freestyle hours, for those who just want to have some fun on the ice. Check out their local hours and prices and stop on in for some fun out of the sun.

Hone in on your inner Zen with a relaxing yoga session. Burbank is home to many yoga studios but one of our favorites is Yoga Blend. This studio offers sessions for all levels and you’re able to purchase sessions in packages or just a single session. Visit their site and find out what is best for you.

If you’re looking for a casual bar to relax with friends, or to meet new ones, Fantasia Billiards is the perfect place to spend an evening. The pool hall has 20 pool tables, televisions, food and also darts, foosball and an arcade, for those looking for entertainment aside from playing pool. This establishment opens fairly early and stays open until 2am each day so head on over whenever your heart desires and enjoy a friendly game of pool.

It’s no secret that getting around Burbank and the surrounding Los Angeles areas can be a bit of a challenge – especially with the influx of tourists during the summer months.  Luckily there are a multitude of tools and travel options to make getting from point A to B a little bit easier. Here are a few companies and apps that will make getting to amusement parks, restaurants, the beach, or wherever you may want to go during your stay at The Tangerine Hotel in Burbank, a bit easier.

This mobile app connects you with a driver in a matter of minutes. In Los Angeles you’ll find a variety of cars all over the city. Simply download the app, select the type of vehicle that you would like and a car we’ll be there to pick you up shortly. With Uber, you don’t need to worry about tipping, dealing with cash or credit cards because everything is directly connected to your account through the app. You can also rate your ride ensuring that you receive the best service possible. Plus, if you do a quick Google search you’ll find a variety of codes that will give you a $15-$25 discount on your first ride.

Waze

If you’re driving around Los Angeles in your own vehicle then Waze can you save you hours of time that you many have spent in traffic. This interactive, community-based traffic and navigation app will share real time road and traffic info saving you precious time and money. Get updates on high-traffic areas, roadside hazards, police vehicles and more and automatically be routed to the best route.

Lyft

Lyft is available every day of the week at all hours of the day. Based around the motto of having “a friend with a car whenever you need one,” Lyft encourages their drives to be personable and friendly, oftentimes having snacks and water in the vehicle for the ride. This app-based service allows you to get picked up by a driver in a matter of minutes. Like Uber, you can oftentimes find promo codes online for your first ride.

The Metro

The Metro offers convenient and affordable ways of getting around the city. With varying guides on their website you can see which lines you’ll need to take to get you to where you need to be, whether it be shopping, museums, arenas and more.

Super Shuttle

Super Shuttle may not help you when you’re trying to be out and about in LA but it is a convenient and affordable option when you need a ride to the nearby Burbank Airport or to LAX. Offering rides to LAX at just $20 is a price that can’t be beat.
